Origins and attitudes
Ponies originating in Great Britain (Scotland, Orkney and Shetland Islands). It seems to date back to the Bronze Age.
In the past it was used for transport in the mine, today in agriculture and, above all, as a saddle horse for young riders. Robust, indefatigable and frugal.
Main coats: piebald, bay, chestnut and morello.
Height at the withers: 90 - 105 cm.
Average weight: 150 - 180 kg.
